I'll be doing a trans fluid flush this weekend along with a new trans filter. Autozone has Valvoline Max Life Synthetic Trans Fluid on sale here for $4.99 per Qt and I'm checking here to see if I can get away with using it, or should I go with actual Dex VI which is $6.99 per Qt? I would personally like to save a few bux (if possible), but do not want to comprimise my transmission just for a few dollars saved.

I figured I'd buy about 8 Qts for the flush that May03LT posted on youtube where he removed the trans line at the radiator.

More than likely, it will be fine. Could be the reason GM won't license it is because it's full synthetic and DexVI is semi-synthetic.

The regular valvoline dexvi is also a full synthetic... they probably just don't want to pay for another license. The one that is just dex-VI is licensed.

I've never used it in a gm but have used it in a lot of foreign cars and it's done its job.

Just got back from Autozone. Not like I really trust their opinions, but they guy at the counter said that he also uses it also it in his truck. Didn't say what type of truck it actually was, but I took his opinion with a grain of salt. No big deal.

I'll use it and post results later on...while keeping my fingers crossed along the way

As always; Thank you for the info, guys!

That's pretty much all I've used in my GM 4L60E transmissions since forever, and have never had any issues with it. One has 170K+ on it, the Trailblazer has 212k on it, both running just fine. Must not be all that bad

Well, I did the fluid exchange today along with a new trans filter. I flushed/filled about 12 qts because the fluid kept looking very dirty as it was draining into my 5 gallon bucket. Also, my trans pan is the larger (deep) model since my Envoy is the XL version, so that may have had to do with the extra fluid. Not sure though...

Anyhow, the 1/2"ID hose worked great. All-in-all, the whole job took me about 3.5 hours to do myself, but that was taking a few breaks every now and then to check on the ribs and chicken in my smoker. BBQ & beer is just damn good Football Watchin' Food :salivate:

Again, "Many Thanks" to MAY03LT for the video he posted on how to do the fluid exchange. I followed the video and the job went very smooth. I also replaced the fluid with Valvoline MaxLife, so we'll see how it holds up over time.
