Who's down for a meet? I'm willing to travel, as I would bring one or two of my car friends anyway. I'd like to try to get a date figured out within a week or two. This year is gonna be a big year for meets with me, and I'd like to kick off the year with a GMT meet first! Lets get this going!

Depending on the date I may be able to swing something. Have my wedding in May as well as some other stuff planned.

Baltimore area is about 2 1/2-3 hours away depending on the traffic.

Just throwing out a location as I know we have some VA members as well as DE, PA and NY. Not sure if anyone from NC would make the journey.

I myself have no problem traveling 2 to 3 hours for a meet, as long as I'm not gonna be the only one there haha. I would love to get a bunch of members, but I figure thats not gonna happen. I'm taking my Trailblazer to H2OI this year, so I still have a lot to get done to it so it's ready, but thats not till the end of September.

I am sure if we get enough people involved we could come up with a meeting place. 2-3 hours sounds fine, and depending on the time I should be able to make it.

It'd be nearly five hours over the mountains for me :sadcry:

Plus I don't like Baltimore lol, but that's personal preference. Just not a city person, and Baltimore can be a crappy city I think. I'd suggest somewhere a little more central but we all know that'd be some random mountain.

I'll be lurking on this thread. I'm kinda interested in doing a meet, depending on location and timeframe we're looking at. I'm under the assumption I have vacation available (nobody tells me nothin'!) but even without, if it's a weekend deal I could make it if I decide I'm in.

For me it can be any day, any time. I just need enough notice to take it off from work. I would like to set it up for earlier in the day, so pictures could be taken and such.

We could always do some place in VA, I was just throwing out a suggestion as they have alot of stuff to do. We could always stay on the outskirts too. Hell I would be fine meeting anywhere within 3-4 hours. OC would be epic, however that puts alot of extra distance on our VA, WV, NC and NY members.

Of course we could all just meet at my house and have a cookout, then I dont have to go anywhere . In all seriousness, this thread should be a good way to narrow down a location.

Personally I'd be alright with Baltimore, I just don't like cities much (paranoia), but it'd be alright since I wouldn't be just standing there alone lol. A bit of extra length for me but some of that may just be all the turns involved in getting over the mountains. I actually don't have any better suggestion than Baltimore anyway, plenty of entrances with the interstates and stuff.

Edit: Except maybe D.C., the difference in travel for me is minimal but would affect the northerners, would be neat to see the sights if anyone hasn't been there. Maybe could start in Baltimore and roll through D.C. for a while or something?

We have Towson which is outside B-more and not as congested. I know we have Pittsburgh or Philly depending on which side is easier for the members, but a haul for us down south. Somewhere in the middle :undecided:.

Off to google maps I guess.

NC isn't included in the mid-atlantic sub-forum collection, is it included? I toyed around with the maps, I don't know on a good spot that isn't up in the middle of the mountains. A fine view but not much to do depending on the exact location lol.

I would enjoy the scenic views . However some of our lowered members may not like the scenic roads too much.

No NC is not part of the mid Atlantic group, however I would enjoy everyone's company just the same.

I found a Winchester, VA. Population 26k or so so there must be a few things to do in town. Preliminary testing from various areas around the mid-atlantic show travel times of up to about 5 hours tops (even from places like Erie PA), some rare instances where people start on backroads go a little higher but it seems to stay under 6 hour travel time (Google calculation).

A nice portion of NC also has travel times of 5 or less hours a considerable portion is under 6. Interstate 81 runs straight through it, as does US 50 and US 11 (not counting state highways) so getting there shouldn't be too bad, I have no idea on how local roads look but maybe someone familiar with the area can chime in.

Tested the times by setting two points, then dragging the beginning point around.

Could always move a bit south and/or west too, to get a little more inclusion on the NC side of things, the place I pointed out isn't exactly dead center but I'm trying to accommodate for ease of access too.

Took a little closer look, Winchester looks to be relatively flat. There's some mountains or hills or something not too far away if we want to go play a bit, but it's not necessary.

Any other suggestions? I'm still open to Baltimore or nearby if it's the best solution.

I think it would also depend on what activity everyone would want to do. Baltimore has some cool stuff, but a lot of the stuff during the day is more family oriented. There are a ton of malls and other things in the area. Annapolis is also not far from Baltimore. There is also Hershey Park in PA and Kings Dominion in Doswell VA for a theme park event, but that could get expensive. I mean I am cool with a meet somewhere, nice lunch and just BSing lol. National Harbor is also just outside of DC.

Six Flags America is possibly the worst them park ever , place needs to be burned to the ground and turned in a landfill or something.

Personally I think NY is better suited in New England. Although not TRULY a part of NE, I think I would say its more NE than 'mid-atlantic', geographically.

:twocents:

One day I would love to make a meet though!!

NE can have NY, but only if they trade us the Patriots for the Redskins.

I'm planning a trip Carlisle PA from April 25th to the 26th for their annual Swap Meet, and 4 of my friends (in two other trailblazers) will be following me. I normally like to go there for autobody and garage equipment, but I sometimes pick up a few car parts too. My friends will be looking mostly for parts and to buy another project car. Which is why one TB will be towing an open trailer.

Carlisle's swap meet is way too large to tackle in one day, so we rented a few rooms at a hotel ...which is conveniently close to a bar

With the span that the MAC covers, it seems to me the Delaware is the most accommodating to all members. With someone from NY initiating the idea, that also seems to be a less inconvenient location. I'm not a GMT owner(ssshhhh), but I might be interested in a meet as long as I am not on the road for hours on end. I have not been to a meet in a few years.

Delaware is not that far for me, relatively speaking, just shoot up to 50 and I can be over there in about 3-4 hours. Any good locations, only thing I know is Rehobeth, and Dover AFB and the Casino. OC is about the same.

Not sure what time that would put some of the WV members at. I have no issue driving 3-4 hours.

I live in the Eastern panhandle and it would be about 165 miles to the middle of DE. Right around a 3hr drive. I seen the mention of Winchester, VA, that is about a 30 minute drive for me.

I don't get why NY is included on Mid-Atlantic. I guess they just went by classic definition :rotfl:. But I don't find Delaware to be any better choice, Baltimore is practically right next door to DE as it is, and has a ton more interstates leading to it which benefits more individuals. Starting from Coxsackie (where the OP is from), it takes about the same time to reach B-More and about halfway down Delaware, again with the added benefit of tons of interstate laid up in Baltimore as compared to one licking the northern tip of Delaware. That and it'd put me over 6 hours to get to Dover (Google Maps calculation) :undecided:

I'm still interested in finding some sort of "centerpoint" but forgot to include NY when I suggested a spot in Virginia, Pennsylvania would contain a better focal point, but I would also like there to be plenty of things to do, which a centerpoint may not offer.

I myself don't drink and don't gamble, I'll chill at a bar and drink pop or something if I don't get hassled for ID just for coming in the door (don't wanna deal with it, when I don't drink) but I won't go to casinos. Not trying to be picky, just stating my system ahead of time, I have no problem finding other things to do while I wait if the majority would like to visit these locations.

Isn't H2OI a VW/AUDI/euro show? unless things have changed.

I am down for a trip to Cone's if I have some caravan buddy's, cuz if I am not mistaken it is quite a hike to his place.
