Troubleshooting the chimes

1997 Blazer 4-door -- Ever since buying this truck, we have had no warning chimes for anything. Nothing for seat belts, lights left on, or keys in ignition. I've had to jump-start my wife once already when she left her headlights on, and it would really be nice to have the warning chimes for these things.

So, where to begin? I have no clue how the chimes were disabled, so I should check the dinger module itself to make sure it wasn't simply removed. Second on my list would be any related fuses, followed perhaps by disconnected cables under the seats? Can anyone point me to where I can find any of these things to check?

Do you have an aftermarket stereo? If so I would start at the wiring harness for that.

The module plugs in to the fuse block under the dash. It looks something like this:

The attached diagram shows the related fuses.

As a matter of fact, it did come with an aftermarket stereo. They seriously wired the warning chimes through the stereo system? Seems about as useful as wiring the brakes through the windshield wipers.

OK, well these posts gives me some ideas where to start looking. Hopefully something turns up. Thanks.

In your 2004 TrailBlazer, yes. But not in your 97 Blazer.
