Hello all. I replaced my struts yesterday and was wondering why they came with smaller retaining nuts on top. I installed them cause they came with them. Are they ok to use or should I put the old bigger ones back on? Torqued them down to 50lbft and they seem to ride nice. Just wasn't sure why the new nuts would be smaller?

I think that you will find that a lot of "replacement iron" has smaller nuts sizes compared to the original. I suspect it is a combination of cost / material and ultimately the "hold spec" which might be the same but dependent on material strengths.
