Hello All,
I have searched but found no answer for my question. I am adding chrome covers to my side mirrors on my 9-7x. I don't like the way they look when sitting on top of the original painted outer cover of the mirror and wanted to know if there is a way to pop it off and install the chrome cover directly on the side mirror housing. I've looked at it and it seems possible but do not want to damage if by trying to pry it off it is not meant to pop off.

Thanks in advance

Yes, the mirror caps are removable. There are (4) small plastic clips that hold the cover in place, two on top and two on bottom. You will need a small flat head screw driver to manipulate the clips to remove the cover. The clips are very thin and easy to break, so take your time. You will need to move your mirror to the full down position to access the top clips and full up position to reach the bottom clips.

Here is a how-to article that I found on the OS, pretty detailed. Same article I used when I painted my mirror covers.

There are 5 clips, 2 top and bottom and 1 on the cover closest to the door. That's the one that gets broken the most.

Good catch, forgot about that one. I was fortunate enough to make it through the process without breaking any.
