Not sure if I mentioned this 10-15 years ago when I found it (!).

If you've ever gone and tried to use your Tech2 as a pass through, or to do updates to it (or whatever) that involve the serial port and it simply won't work.... first off, throw out that Prolific USB adapter you bought, and get an FTDI chipset one.

Then.... check the cable that came with your clone. I'm talking that flat one that hooks to the port on the Tech2, and goes to the 9 pin D connector. I could never get mine to work. Then one day I checked the cable - nothing was hooked up! Yeah, they had just shoved everything in and crimped it down. Metered it out, and got nothing anywhere.

Grabbed a spare network cable, stripped one end, and wired it onto the 9 pin. Poof. Worked.
Now here's the thing - I did it SO LONG ago, I have no clue where I even got the diagram from.
In the event you actually have this issue let me know and I'll ring out all the pins and make a drawing.
