IIRC, the threads add no strength to the bolt. All the stress is put on the shank. Here's what mine look like. I torqued them down (as much as I thought was safe) after doing my bushing replacement, but when I drove the truck, the bracket slipped outwards. Should I torque them down again to 185 ft-lb, or should I buy some new ones? Dealer wants $9.50+13% each, and would take him about 3-4 days to order. Brafasco has some for $2.29 each, but they come in a hex socket head
Damn Canadian winters!
UPDATE:
I gave that b***h a torquing! B***hes love torquings!!
I set my torque wrench to 150ft-lbs (max) and torqued them down! Then went an additional 1/16th's of a turn. No snapping noises were heard.
