recommend me an amp

alright audio gurus... have at it.

I have one of these sitting in my closet (one of these days I'll build a stealth-box) with the plan of just to fill out the sound. If I want *thump*, I have that already... Clarion WF2510D (WF-2510D) 10" Dual 4 ohm Shallow WF Subwoofer -- If you just need the basic specs, 300w RMS, 900w peak..... DVC, 4 ohm each coil.

Looking for an amp that is a suitable match in the two ohm category, bridged or mono... Preferably in the sub $200 range, but will consider sub $300.

Where'd you see 500@ 2 on the RF?

I saw the 300x1 on Meades youtube vid, and it looks like it got that woofer moving, but the size of the case makes me wonder how hot it runs.

I would just pick up an Autotek or similar off of sonicelectronix. Good budget amp, ran a few different models without any issues. I know even more people hate maxxsonics.

Or you could pick up a California Profile amp. For real cheap, stout little budget amp.

I was wrong as well, it's 250x2 @2ohms. My excuse is....my dog ate it

It's a shame they don't have a P500-1bd on the cheap.

Reluctantly, the kicker it is then... If it doesn't work for my needs, I'll pass it off to my father. The amp in his car needs replacing eventually anyway (old Jenson 4 channel driving a Fosgate 10")....

I looked at the autoteks and they were all rated too high for two ohm loads.

I actually have this amp sitting in my closet Power Acoustik D1-2000D (D12000D) 2000W Monoblock Demon Car Amp ... upgraded awhile back to something bigger (still power acoustik). I ran the amp for a little over a year and it performed great. The new one I bought now I have had for about 9 months, and still no problems. Seems to be good for the money. Just my 0.02.

One more quick question... on the UQA amps, the connector pre-amp is low pass and the connector post amp is high pass?

Specs don't give rms at 2 ohm, just max. Thanks though.

Is there a way to cross reference it from these specs? Like using algebra? LOL
I have this one in my TBSS and it thumps HARD with one 12". I've always liked SSL products. VMI is really good on shipping it fast and their price can't be beat.

There isn't really a true conversion as amps do not produce pure sine waves. If they did use pure sine waves, the conversion would be

peak = 2^(1/2) * RMS -- or -- peak = (sqrt(2)) * RMS

This brings the approximate conversion on that amp to 464W RMS... over what the sub can handle (300w RMS, 900 peak @ 2ohms). It's up to the manufacturer to release what the RMS value is.

If it could handle 450w, I have a spare Alpine MRP450 in my Sunfire that I could use (one of the two subs let loose the magic smoke)... but alas.

Marking the amp search as complete. Bought a Fosgate Punch P300-1 from a friend for $50, new in box w/receipt. Can't beat that price. 300w rms x 1 @ 2 ohms, 900w max.
