If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it. The problem I am having is about five seconds after I start my truck the oem rear dvd player starts making noise like it is trying to suck in and spit out a disk. This goes on for about thirty seconds and then stops. If i fold down the screen and turn the unit on it displays and error message disc load/eject error. There is no disc in the unit. I don't even use the unit anymore but i would like it to work. I'm wondering if this is something that is repairable. A replacement unit on ebay is $300. Maybe a bad sensor or something because the unit just started doing this out of nowhere without being used in a long time. The only thing I have done so far is disconnect the battery to try and reset the unit but didn't work. It is the oem panasonic unit and I have the factory boes stereo. Truck is a 2006 chevy trailblazer lt 5.3l swb.

Pretty much none of us are experienced in repairing consumer DVD players to the component level. If you took it out and took it to a reputable local shop, they might be able to advise if a repair is even a good investment. Most consumer items under $200-300 are no longer even designed for repair, and if a shop knew how the sensors worked, they'd still have to obtain the parts. I see 6 of them on Ebay today at $200 or less.

That was my original thought. I'm thinking when I get a chance I might try and take it down an do a better inspection and maybe see if there is anything I can try to clean or something. I was Just hoping someone had a similar experience and maybe had a quick fix. Just very weird because it was not even being used and just broke out of nowhere. Any Idea what type of place (besides dealer) may look at something like that? Not like its a home unit? most likely not worth the expense.

we had a similar problem with ours.once you pull the dvd player down and out and unplug everything.ours had pinched wired that were shorting out eachother and once a wire got cut it wouldnt work anymore.its a shitty design by gm putting wires by sharp metal & plastic.i think i have some pictures but taking out the whole unit took 10 min.i bet you have a cut wire somewhere like ours did.

My OEM rear DVD player in my 06 envoy has a read disc error. I've tried to clean the player with a cleaning disc and haven't had any success. I was looking to replace it with used working one. How do I remove the existing DVD player?

.... nevermind i got it out.

Cheers
