After showing my friend my LEDs on my car, he wanted to know if I could work on something for his 2 year old daughter. She has a plastic Barbie trike that was begging for some light, so with about $12.00 in Chinese LEDs from eBay and an alarm system battery that I got for free from my apartment complex's maintenance guy, I got to work. I bought all of the LEDs from auctions on ebay, so I got all of them for super cheap, and free shipping. I didn't do a 'how-to' or anything like that, but just thought I would share some pics of the results. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!!

You should have seen her face Carlton! I showed her how to use the switches, and she was turning them on and off all night! She loved it!!! The headlight is actually a 3157 reverse light that I had used in my old Jeep. Once I got the TB, I got some 3157s with more LEDs, and didn't want them to go to waste. I was expecting the lights in the back to be pink, but they're more of a purple. The pink ones up front are super pink. My friend who I did this for is wanting me to do some LED accent lighting in his house now. I just might have found something I can make a living off of!

I agree! It's making me jealous, and I built it! Looks like it's time for me to put some more LEDs on MY ride!

A friend of mine wanted to mod his halloween mask... 2x red leds in series, a switch, and a 2x AAA battery holder later...

Sorry for the double post, found another pic on my phone...

Power outage lighting... I put together a circuit which is connected to the main AC power. When the power is cut, the LED lights up courtesy of a 6v lawn mower battery... Power comes back on, LEDs turn off and the battery is charged off the main via a DC wall wart through the circuit. I have to attic crawl sometime in the spring to finish up, but it will drive 10 white LEDs for 3 days.

There are two more on the left, but they burnt out.... Cheap bulk LED's, so I'm not surprised.

Screwed 4 angle brackets to the back of the drawer face of my tv stand. The holes for the bracket are just small enough to wedge fit an LED in there. For power, a sacrificial usb cable is plugged in the back of my Xbox.

Can light.... Made from spare parts.

7rSDS.jpg

4 red and 4 white (alternating around the circumference), a spdt switch (common power in center) to switch back and forth between the colors, a simple on/off toggle on the side of the can, inside are nimh d cell batteries in series (or will be once I clean out the oil and stray peanut bits).

The switches came from an old radio that no longer worked. The leds, I have a more than enough to spare a few...

If I feel adventurous, I may put a hanger of sorts on the bottom so the light faces down instead of up and paint the can... For now, it will suit the need for next weekend's camping excursion.

Also wanted to bump this in case anyone else had new stuff to show

This is a great idea. I may have to try this.
