New owner of '02 Envoy, some issues.

Hi all, I just purchased a 2002 Envoy SLT I6 two days ago. Went out of state to buy. On the way home, I noticed a few problems. First, the HVAC doesn't work right. I first noticed the driver side would blow cold air even when set to 90. The passenger climate control would work fine. This problem is only with the dash vents as I've noticed. I can get the defrost setting to change temps hot/cold. The back vents will also change fine. Another thing I found is that sometimes I get more air out of the driver vents than the passenger vents, but only sometimes. And further messing with the HVAC controls, I've found that when the recirculate button is pushed, it will not let either side change temperature.(but it did make the driver side blow hot when it did that). So that's what I've found wrong with HVAC. another problem is the vehicle seems to lose memory when shut off. This doesn't happen every time, but when it does I lose radio/seat/mirror/HVAC/settings. This is just annoying having to reposition stuff a lot. Lastly, when I tried to set the curb assist mirrors on, the passenger mirror would go out and up. This is not a huge deal, but wondering why it goes up instead of down? any help on any of these issues is much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the club!

First off, did it come with an owners manual? I would sit down and read through it as it's somewhat comprehensive and explains the mirrors and memory functions. There was some issues with the memory module and when GM came up with replacement modules they used the same part numbers so dealers really didn't know if they were using old or new modules...mainly back in circa 2002...I know I went through it.

As far as the HVAC, others will need to chime in but you could have a bad drivers-side actuator.

Please fill out your profile, let us know the service history, total miles etc.

The HVAC issues are probably due to the blower motor. As far as the curb assist mirrors, mine work but don't function 100% either and I just turned it off. I never investigated why it didn't function because the curb assist is kind of pointless for me anyways.

It did come with a manual. I have skimmed through it, and plan on reading more in depth when I get the time. Is the memory module easier to get as an updated version now? does this module also control the radio and HVAC temp? I'm not sure of the service history on the vehicle yet, it did not come with records, but it is in excellent shape for the year and miles. (196k).

BTW you don't have a 4.3L V6

It is a 4.2 I6 or straight 6 or inline 6

Might want to change that in the vehicle profile before someone looks at you like you have 3 heads :raspberry:
