LED tailgate lightbar

Got my "49 lightbar in last week from LEDGlow and I had to do absolutely no drilling at all. Two of the bumper cover bolts are perfectly in line with two of the mounting bolts on the bar. Had to use different screws because the washers on the OEM screws were too big, but all in all, it was a pretty easy install and I'm very pleased with the buy. Not overly bright during the day, but at night...

Wow. Did that seem like an advertisement?!

I'll get some on later. Gonna wait 'til it's dark so it'll show up better.

Does it have turn signal and brake light functionality, or is it just like an extra tail/parking light?

Everything works- turns, brake, running, and I just got the reverse hooked up today.

All I needed was the round 7 to flat 4 adapter, except for the reverse, for that I needed to splice into the green wire running from the light socket.

Couldn't figure out how to give descriptions in main pic post, so here they are;
First is reverse with running, second is running, third is right signal, fourth is left, fifth is brakes.

I bought that style of light bar a few years ago. My advice, even though the ends are sealed with silicone, add some extra sealant yourself. Otherwise, down the road you'll start to notice some condensation inside the ends, which will start affecting the LEDs on either/both sides :hissyfit:

Actually, I already have, on the passenger side. If it messes up, hopefully it will fail during the year warranty.

Are you talking about the plug ends? It seems to have rubber end plugs on both ends. You mean take the plugs out and coat the plug with silicone?

The silicone plugs in either end of the light bar, yes. If you take those out, might as well toss em, and fill the ends with enough silicone to make your own plugs.

I noticed the condensation in mine early on, but never did anything about it. Next thing you know, the year warranty passes and the 4 red LEDs on the driver's side would be less bright then the rest of the bar. Then sometimes they would not light up at all. Later on the same thing happened on the passenger side. (at least it was symetrical again right? :duh:)

If/when I buy another light bar, I will be sure to get the SMD LED style, as those are sealed much better and won't let any moisture in. :twocents:

And in case your LED mod bug would like a buffet menu, feel free to join the party over here

I let LEDGlow know about the condensation and sent them pics. They told me to confirm my address on the order and they would send me a new bar.

Great customer service. When I contacted Rampage about mine, there were crickets and pins dropping. :hopeless:

How did u wire it? I'm sorry if I missed that but was there a plug and play wiring option or did u have to splice into the tail lights

To begin with, I actually ordered one without reverse but they sent me one with reverse. I hope they send me another one. The white lights combined with the red just looks cool.

I've had mine for over 6 years-first on the S-10 Blazer and now on the TBSS. Never had one problem with it.

They sent me one without reverse. Oh well. That's what I ordered to begin with. I am kinda impressed with the white lights, though.

Did you get to keep the original one? If so, mod it to get the condensation out, and sell the replacement for some mod money!!

I still have the old one.

Don't know whether to just keep the the old one on there 'til it goes completely out, or go ahead and put the new one on. Only thing is, what if the same thing happens to the new one?

Like I suggested earlier, get the old sealant out, and reseal it yourself. If your LEDs in the current one haven't started having issues yet, I would try to save that one, since you like it better.

Probably will keep the older one on. It's not like they cost a fortune.

Looks good  I like the reverse lights.

Me, being a cheap SOB, I get these and wire them to my brake light. If it goes bad I just grab another (they're cheap!!!)

Same thing happened to mine which was the $25 special from O'reilly's. Mine had condensation, but it still worked. Then one day, my cruise control didn't work with the parking lamps on. Then I realized that it had rusted internally and was backfeeding parking lamp power back to the brake lights. It was a long ordeal to figure out why cruise control didn't work.

When I get around to it, I'll buy the RECON tailgate strips, to match my BIG RIG running lights.
