Key & Remote Fob

Hello, all. I'm needing a spare key and remote...how do I know if I need a Key with the Security Chip or without?...also, does the Remote Entry Fob need to be taken to the stealership for programming? Any info would be great, thanks.

You shouldn't have a key with a chip in it.

I got the spare for my '03 Envoy from Home Depot. No chip needed.

You DONT have a key with a chip in it.

they are regular keys and can be made anywhere keys are cut.. I got a couple of mine from walmart.

From reading another thread, the Saab 9.7x has a chip in it, but that is the only one of this platform/family that does.
