Intake Manifold question - MAP Sensor

I recently picked up at intake manifold from a friend off a Trailblazer (not sure what year) for $20!!!

Seeing as my intake has practically been melting from the long years of heat I said what the heck? Might as well change the intake if I'm going to replace the valve cover as well because it's leaking like crazy and broken where I can't properly secure the resonator anymore, plus I think I have a pretty good sized hole on one corner of it.

So the question is the MAP sensor, this intake that I picked up looks exactly identical to the one I have on my 02 trailblazer EXCEPT the MAP sensor seems to be held on by a bolt now. Since when did they change the MAP sensor on these trucks? My uncle has an 06 TB and his intake is the same as my 02!!!

I found a MAP sensor that's for a later model TB that looks like it can fit this intake. Can I just swap them? The connector is the same 3 pin. Or should I ditch this intake and sell it?

I attached a picture of the new intake, does it look like any of yours?

Literally found almost nothing. Best thing I found was this and it's a completely different intake but same sensors. Appears they're different diameters.

Post number 9 you'll see a side by side comparison.

I guess you'd have to get the new bolt on style sensor because idk how you'd get yours to stay on there.

Still not 100% positive on whether it would even work though but tomorrow will bring more opinions from other guys.

Thank you again for the help!

I was doing my fair share of the research and I found nothing as well. That link you provided gave me some good insight though.

Seeing as the newer map sensor is only $20 including shipping on Amazon. I think I might just go for it and try to swap. I have some metric bolts laying around that might work for securing the sensor.

By the looks of it, the intake look exactly the same as the early TB's besides the sensor but I guess I won't know till I take it apart this weekend!

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this because I would hate to have to sell this intake. It's in excellent condition and the insulation around the throttle body is in flawless shape!

Be sure to pick up a new gasket set. I believe Fel-Pro has the intake and TB gasket together.

So I'm pretty positive now that the intake is the same as the other years with the exception of the MAP sensor changing in 08.

Can anyone confirm this before I go and buy a newer MAP sensor?

The newer MAP sensor is held on by a bolt it looks like it, does it have a retainer clip to secure it like the older models? Or will a bolt do to secure?

Thank you all again for the help!

Gotcha man, picked up both intake and valve cover gaskets by Fel Pro.

I noticed that the MAF sensor can swivel around on my 2005. The actual element has a tiny plastic cage around it that is not symmetric. Does it matter which direction is facing the air filter and which is facing the throttle body ?

This thread is about the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure, aka: Vacuum) sensor. If you're talking about the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, it's totally different. But to answer your question, yes, the air flow must be in the direction indicated on the sensor. The electronics "box" where the connector plugs in to can be in any position.
