How long will a trouble code stay in memory?

After replacing the air solenoid check valve for the second time in eleven months, the check engine dash light went out after three cold start cycles. The scanner still shows there "was" a code P0410 and it is no longer a current code.
How many cold start cycles or how long will the previous code be retained in the system .
Thanks, DAG

IIRC it will clear that pending code after 50 miles, if it does not see any problems.

"A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other emission related diagnostic."

Scooped by nine minutes?!? What's happening here?!?!?!

Mileage is never a criteria for clearing codes.

Hey when 70 is in your rear view mirror 9 minutes is lost in rounding!

Some of the body and chassis codes will clear out of history after 100 restarts. My recollection was 40 but apparently applies to emission related DTC's only.
