Hi everyone havent posted in a long time, but getting ready to purchase some sundown audio SA-15s and to properly power them im going to need to buy a new alternator to my understanding. I own a 2006 Trailblazer and i found this:
[EBAY]250743148835[/EBAY]
It says its fits on 2004-2005 4.2l but i cant find anything that would fit a 2006+
I was wondering if this would fit on my car and if not can someone point me in a direction to where i can find one? All help would be greatly appreciated and i will definitely get a video up when i get everything installed.

Try going to an auto parts web page and compare the part numbers for the different years.

They were the same for '02 - '05. The '06 was changed and the '07 changed again.

I don't know what the changes were.

part numbers are the same for 02-05 and 07+ but 06 dont match either range of years. I find it hard to believe that they would change the style of the alternator for one year...especially not to my knowledge of any major faliures of alternators in 2006?

Discovered this

As far as i know Envoy motors had no difference between all other motors on the platform including the trailblazer so in theory then an alternator from a 2007 should fit on a 2006 trailblazer motor as well and since the 2007 and 2005 alternators have all the same ACDELCO Part #s I would draw a conclusion that all the alternators fit on each other. Unless the problem could lie in the computer...hmmm

I was under the impression there is no difference in the alternators between years.

The only difference that I've seen is in the connector. It's either a 4 pin connector (even though it's 2 wires, there are 4 cavities in the connector) that the older ones have and the 2 pin (2 wire, 2 cavities) connector in the newer ones that have the VCM. Those newer ones also have the clamp thingy around the negative battery cables right near the battery. IIRC one HO alt company only listed 4 pin or 2 pin, the year wasn't an option in the dropdown menu.

So basically i just need to search for an tb alt that runs a 4 pin plug?

I'd verify with the vendor first. The one on PB showed the 4 pin for both the non VCM and with VCM which I know for a fact is false.
