Hi all,

I have a 2005 Trailblazer LS with the I6 4.2 liter. 137000 miles. I am having an issue I can't figure out.

Intermittently (usually after the car has been sitting for 12 hours or so) it is having to crank quite a bit before it finally starts. After it finally starts the vehicle does not shift correctly. It revs clear up to 6000 RPMS and stays there for a while then finally shifts hard.

Then, usually after turning the key off, it will start right back up and start shifting normally again.

My initial thought was the fuel pump was going bad, but the shifting issues in conjunction with the hard start has me a little confused.

Any ideas you have would be much appreciated. Thanks!
