Green brake fluid ??

I recently changed out the stock rotors and pads on my 2008 TB 4.2. Truck has 120,000 miles on it.

I used the brake kit I found on 1aauto.com with ceramic pads that comes with front and rear rotors and pads. I think the cost was around $250..

I removed as much of the old fluid as I could from the reservoir, and filled it with Prestone DOT 3 fluid. I bled out the old fluid and I saw the color go from black to the new clear fluid on each caliper. I refilled the reservoir after each bleed.

Everything was great, the new brakes are working perfectly, no noise, and the pedal has a really nice feel.

I go about a hundred miles or so, and I recheck the reservoir to make sure nothing was leaking, and the fluid is exactly on the full line like it was after bleeding. The only problem is, ITS TURNING GREEN ?? Obviously some kind of contamination is happening?

I am going to flush this again soon, but my fear is it will just happen again.. Did I install something wrong?

Green fluid indicates moisture in the fluid, turning the copper components in the system green. So essentially, it's copper rust. Depending on the method you used, there might have been some old fluid left over in the bottom of the master cylinder reservoir, pistons and/or in the ABS valves. You're probably going to have to flush them again. I prefer the pedal method for this reason as it's a more forceful flush.

Thank you for your reply. I did the 'one man, brake bleed bottle with line submerged in new clean brake fluid, and pump the brakes' method

I will flush that out asap, ty again MM

Suggestion for your brake fluid. Always only use unopened cans, preferably the small ones. The "quart sized" containers can too easily absorb moisture out of the air thus contaminating the brake fluid if left open for any period of time. And if memory serves correct DOT 4 absorbs less moisture than DOT 3.
