I was just driving my TB and i decided to push up to 100mph, once it hit 100 the vehicle jerked and slowed down. i thought mabey it was the governor but i looked up the limit and it says the limiter kicks in at 110mph and 6200 rpms, needless to say i was nowhere near that. I dont regularly drive over 90 so this is just a question to satiate my curiosity

How did you look up this limit? I know from seeing it in HPTuners, it's 100 MPH.

I took mine to 110 a few years ago, and as soon as it hit that it started bucking and slowing. Once I went under that, it settled down. I was a bit concerned until I remembered the limiter. So anecdotally it's normal.

Cheers-

It could still be set to 100 but only kick in beyond that. IIRC, this was because of the tire speed rating.

Now I'm starting to wonder if it was 100 or 110, or possibly it was in KM/h or it was a Canadian thing. Problem is that I can't verify as I don't have a stock PCM to check.

I'm showing some age with this comment, but back in the day GM had an old fashioned "speed limiter". It didn't even require a computer (and none were on vehicles then). The front end of GM products hit the magic 120 mph and the front end of your vehicle became very light. Light enough so one could not control the steering well. The front tires might hit a small irregularity in the road and stay off the road for a few moments. For me this magic number worked on a 1974 El Camino with a small block 350 and the other one was an 1976 oldsmobile 98 with 455 cubes under the hood. Both had a little more power, but limited by the front end becoming dangerous to control at this speed. But it would have been nice to see the true topping out speed. When I watch the police chases on youtube I do wonder how well they stay put to the asphalt. At least the engine didn't buck at the high speed and RPM.

My Envoy is set to 93 from the factory. Never got to test the Saab, had the computer sent out and tuned.... I will say it does a lot more than triple digits!

Well... I did take the Saab to 200km/h (124 mph) once and it didn't feel light, still had good control. Probably could have gone a little faster but I was running out of road  . The Caprice is a whole other beast. 220km/h (134 mph). That thing just hugs the road.

And I will deny it if anyone asks
