Im getting a P0141 code. I have no cat btw a PCM4Less tune with no cat tune. I cut my cat off bought a 3" 17" long pipe from o'reilly's auto for $6.99 and welded it on. now im getting a P0141 code. i have a scantech gauge and i remove the code every time i start the car and drive. I need help plz

After Googling i found

[h=2]Technical Description[/h] O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
[h=2]What does that mean?[/h] This code means that the heated circuit in the oxygen sensor on bank 1 decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0141. See also: P0135 (Bank 1, Sensor 1).
[h=2]Symptoms[/h] You will likely notice poor fuel economy the illumination of the Check Engine Light.
[h=2]Causes[/h] A code P0141 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • open or short to ground in the wiring harness
  • O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
  • O2 heater element resistance is high
  • Internal short or open in the heater element
Note: Typically a failed catalytic converter does not cause this code. You're more likely to see a P0420 code for a failed converter.
[h=2]Possible Solutions[/h]
  • Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor) (I have a brand new ACDelco O2 installed in the manifold a month or so ago)
  • Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors (The Manifold Harness was NOT disconnected when doing this weld)

Not sure if this helps, but did you check fuse #29 in the under hood fuse box?

You need to thoroughly inspect the wiring harness, even if it wasn't removed. Check the pins in the connector. Otherwise it looks like you just have to apply your meter to the problem and troubleshoot the heater circuit. On the tiny chance that the new sensor is bad, did the code appear right after you changed it?

No the o2 was replaced about a month and a half ago. The code appeared after removing the cat.

EDIT: just checked the connector internals all appear good while the engine side female connector is a bit dirty on the outside. Wire don't appear to be broken or anything. When I get home I will put the scan tool on it and find out.

I fixed it. resetting the PCM solved this issue.

This morning i was getting a constant 1k RPM and 3 more codes, which would NOT clear. :crazy: The TB drove like a bat outta hell.
P0141
P0171
P1133

I ordered a new ACDelco o2 for my bank1 just in case. They are cheap as hell on Amazon.:biggrin:

Any follow up on this ACE1875? Did a new oxygen sensor fix everything for you?

Hi, I am very inexperienced with cars. I have this same code (it is just the P0141 code). I already changed the O2 sensor and that didn't work.
The issue first arose a week ago right after a new transmission was put in.
Can you describe as simply as possible what next steps you would take?
Thanks,
Brandon

Welcome! You could help us help you by filling out your vehicle profile.

Did you use an AC Delco or another brand like Bosch? You did the work? How many miles, and what did the old one look like?

Any reason you didn't suspect a problem caused by that shop and return it to them for fixing?

I'd apply a high end scan tool to the truck and get a measure of the heater circuit. Or pay a mechanic to do it. Without experience or a local buddy to show you how, it's probably too frustrating to trace the wiring from the sensor to the PCM and see if the wiring has a problem.

Thanks for the help. I have an 05 GMC Envoy with 155k miles on it. I didn't do the work but have a friend who is a mechanic switch out the tranny for me (and put in the O2 sensor). I don't think the sensor was either one of the brands listed above.
