Gas gauge acting weird

So this is the first time this has happened, it has been in the teens the last few days here and when I started the truck up after it had been sitting all day in the cold the fuel gauge read empty until it warmed up then it read normal. I was parked in a level spot where I always park and it was just weird seeing it do this today and was wondering if it was because it was cold
