My build date is 03/03 and has a 25 gallon tank its also an EXT . I found this on the original window sticker. Is there a code in the glove box to double check this ?

All LWB trucks have 25gal fuel tanks including the XUV (GMT305).

The SWB trucks have had 2 different sizes, 02-early 03s have a 18.7gal tank, mid03s-09 have a 22gal tank.

Hmmm, Im pretty sure Bill (Blade) has an mid-late 03 with the 22 gal tank... Did you buy yours new or used? How do you know yours only has the 18.7? Ive put 18.71 gallons in my 02's 18.7 gal tank...

And what do you mean "05 design"? I think the only thing GM changed was adding the bowtie to the back hatch (and that might have been for 06, cant remember), the engine changed for 06 (but I know some really late production 05s have the revised engine and MAF).

Purchased from a family member with personal and paper records of all maintenance.

My truck is an odd one. It is an 04 truck on paper, but has the sway bar through the sub frame like the 05+ trucks, a 18.7 gallon fuel tank like 02- some 03's (this I know for sure due to 18.8 or 18.9~ gallons going into the tank when I ran out of gas), and the tranny lines go around the spline disconnect like the 05+.

I only say things as they are. Trust me I would rather have the 22 gallon tank, or the 25 gallon tank off the ext.

Maybe they ran out of some 04 production parts and had to implement the 05 parts sooner then expected? 04 was the highest year in terms of sales of these things.

Edit: It also lacks the bow tie, but after going through some pictures of it when it was newer, it was present. The adhesive must have failed or it got power washed off with out being noticed.

I also just noticed it lacks the color bowtie on the steering wheel like 05's. It's simply etched into the rubber/plastic like 02-04's

Finally the on-star works, which I think 05 was the year where the on-star unit got the digital receiver put in it or very late 04's.

Hmmm weird, wonder if its been heavily worked on, like a body swap.

If you only put 18.8 or 18.9 gal into it when you ran out of gas, its definitely an 18.7 gal tank. I ran out of gas in my 08 SS with the 22 gal tank and put 21.9 gallons back into it. Super weird.

So an 05 truck that needed a fuel tank swap due to a filler neck issue and they used an 18.7gal tank? Thats about all I can think of, but weird about the body components.

Nope, it the original fuel tank. Grandma owned it off the lot brand new. The only thing she replaced was a ignition switch, and I havn't touched the fuel tank.

Like I said, my truck is just kinda odd!

I have a list of RPO codes for the 2003 model year (from the OS). The only one that has anything about fuel tanks is " CTF = Fuel Tank, Extra Capacity ".

The 2003 TB EXT has a 25.3 capacity.

Good luck ever filling it up. I just put $100 in the other day at $4.479, and pumped 22.240 gallons. The needle ALMOST got to full.
I have still never completely filled up my TB since I bought it.

Here is a clip from the 2003 Owners Manual.

The only way you'll put 25.3 gallons in is if you completely run the tank dry.

I'm a student at a trade school, and, therefore, usually always broke.

The yellow light is on the majority of the time. In fact, I keep a gas can in the back because I have run out of gas 3 times in the past year.

Running her bone dry is not a problem for me  Actually filling her up is.

EDIT: Oops, just realized that I hijacked this thread...sorry

Running it on fumes all the time will burn up the fuel pump
