I replaced this exhaust manifold today for a friend. 2002 trailblazer. None of the bolts broke. One was missing the bolt head but the stud unscrewed by hand.
A Stress Crack caused by a combination of that Damned "Dog-Leg" Design of a Fore-CAT Manifold Elbow + the CAT weight constantly jouncing up and down and applying the Flexing Leverage popping Bolt Heads off the M8X1.25MMX30MM fasteners like Brass Buttons and also because of SOME VERY BAD MOTOR MOUNTS.
When I was rebuilding the engine in my 2003 I broke several off. To be honest, I wasn't being too careful because I knew I was tearing the whole thing apart anyway. They're easy to get out when the head is sitting on the work bench.
