My 2002 Envoy has the Electronic Fan Clutch. It's working well but was wanting to buy a back up while things are on clearance.

Someone mentioned a thermal clutch as an alternative. Would I have to have the PCM reprogrammed with this? Or is it better to stay with the electronic clutch?

The thermal version is more reliable and less prone to failure, no matter the brand. You would have to get the PCM tuned to turn off the codes and CEL for it.
