cv axles and diff slop

I have a 03 TB 4x4 4.2l is there any tolerance as far as how much the inner cv end can move inside the diff I have a little bit of slop in it and last time that happened on the other side all the needle bearings came apart but this side is not as bad as that I just replaced the seal cause it was leaking and didn't get anything strange in the oil or anything. Any info at all would be much appreciated.

I'd be worried if it had more than 1/32" of slop. Bearings are just a little more difficult to replace than the seal. Especially easy if you have the Harbor Freight bearing/seal puller slide hammer kit.

There's a fair amount of play at the CV. In the video below you'll see the play in the CV with a brand new bearing installed.
