If this don't belong here, please move to the appropriate area.

What would a decent price be for a 2008 Envoy SLE? I'd like to walk in prepared to negotiate at a decent starting price and not too low that makes the guy want to walk away.
I was able to get the VIN and search the installed options on this vehicle.

4.2L
G80
3.42 Gearz
4WD
86,000 Kms OR 53437 miles

In NL, Canada that would be about 14k on a dealers lot.

I would definetly arm myself with some of the things to look for in If you're happy with your TB/Envoy, let me know
Just wish I had an Android phone, to use that ODB App Torque.

Honestly I would pass and get the SLT..just my opinion. I know I have seen some SLE's out there priced the same as an SLT with the same mileage and year, you just have to shop around. But then again your in Canada where I have heard everything is aboot $2000.00 more than here because of all the fee's.

What are the differences between the SLE and SLT?

Your SLE is like a plain jane nothing fancy truck and an SLT is pretty much loaded.

I got my SLT granted it's a LWB...for $10,000 with 103k miles. The stealership had an 03 SLE for $11,500 that had WAY less options, no G80....and had 115000k miles.

There was absolutely NO difference. Granted my truck to some is a giant piece of shit, but opinions are like assholes lol Also a little(or a lot) of cleavage and a nice young salesman kind of helped I think as well. My truck was originally listed for over $13k

ThanX

One thing I want to stay away from is a LWB.

Trying to get rid of my GMC Sierra for a smaller but still capable truck.

Plain Jane is fine with me, I already don't fit in with my neighbours  who mostly drive BENZ or Beamers.

Nothing wrong with a LWB...I have one, but I have to have one as I have 6 kids. It is a very capable truck despite it's length. It does get called a few names around here...like the "Manvan" or The Bus and so forth, but I have the G80 locker and if I put the time and money into it, could probably offroad with the guys here without any issues.

Plain jane is cool with me as well....but for the price I would rather get everything I could compared to nothing much. Then again...the more shit you have the more shit you have that can go wrong. I think it is all more of a personal preference really. No wrong way either...it's who is behind the wheel that matters.

My opinion but I wouldn't consider an SLE. The SLT is actually nice except you can't get a V8 like in the Denali package. The Denali actually has "SLT Decor" except the wood steering wheel with tiny chrome ring trim. I also wouldn't consider an SLT and would only accept a Denali but my opinions are strong. Of course I wouldn't consider a Denali since the 9-7 is so much nicer.

Starting to think the Mod's should make a sticky with the specific details of what to look for when purchasing. It may be redundant for the majority.. but between Tech and myself, who joined and asked about the items, others may just be passin' through and may want a little information without asking for it.

Of course, a nice balance between all the great things they have and do, and not look like they all have those issues. Just certain lemons perhaps, to stay away from. Kind of thinking :undecided:, the roadie wishes he would have thought of this!

Anyway, good luck to you, Tech! We'll compare notes this evening on our trips :wootwoot:

Edit: Not lemons, abused trucks!

That's only because the 9-7 came with an engine cover n fancy lights

I like the Denali Grille, running boards, chrome 18" wheels, lower rear bumper that actually hides the spare and most of the can, solid black leather seats, G80 and 3:73's.....and the V8 of course. The one option I'm not too keen on and could care less if I have it is Auto Climate Control, I hate it, actually almost as much as Rainsence wipers which I pulled fuse 29 and got rid of that dumb option and now there normal intermittent wipers. I think newer Denali's came standard with side curtain airbags and back up sensors too.

Looks like it has done some towing, there's an electric brake controller mounted.

Brake controller  then that probably means it towed a heavy trailer too....

Hey now, the SAAB grill gets attention---(it says i'm driving an obsolete make) 18" wheels were standard but you could get 20" too, the 9-7 hides even more of the spare and can since it is lowered, you could get solid black or tan and black, G86 is standard as was 3.73 and could get the 4.10 too. All of the 9-7's came with side curtain airbags with the rollover feature plus lower profile tires and best of all the fold out cupholder that practically came pre-broken from the factory for your convenience. Also I could loose your Denali at the first slight bend in the road :raspberry:

At least heavy enough to require electric brakes. Certainly a couple thousand pounds. Not a reason to walk away yet, wonder if it has a trans cooler?

Not necessarily.
My popup is 2200lbs empty does not have e-brakes but I could have bought the same model with e-brakes.

Exactly, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, just something to investigate.

Damn. I got mine 3 years before you and its 3 years newer and with less miles for a good bit less than that.

How do you figure? Seems to be a pretty standard thing to have around me, but hardly any tow anything that needs one. If they do it is generally a one or two time deal.

I agree. Could be it hauled a Bobcat around everyday to construction sites or it could be someone moved a TT for a buddy and got the controller to be on the safe side.

The letters for the model mean very little to me. In my eyes, even the "stripped down" models of this platform are loaded. AC, power accesories, CC, tilt, CD player....all standard but options to me. Mine is an LS and I never really wanted for more, except I added $100 leather seat covers for ease in wiping off mud and $150 ScanGuage II that does more than the DIC. Even as a LS it had the 3.73 and G80. Those meant more to me than any interior or exterior dress up crap.
