I have a 2004 Trailblazer EXT 4x4. When the temp control lever (right side level since I have two levers) is all way down in cold mode, I hear a clicking noise in the rear cargo area. It goes away if I click up about 3 clicks on the temp lever. This happens regardless of whether I am using vent, heat or a/c.

Welcome! It's 100% certain to be the rear temp actuator. They strip gears or break a tooth, especially (but not always) after a battery disconnection or accidental discharge. Pull the panel on the passenger side of the way back, and just swap it. Pull rear fuse #36 (HVAC B) while you do this, for safety and to force a recalibration when you start it up for the first time after the job.

In this pic, the temp actuator is the lower one (it's near the heater core) - the upper is the airflow mode (floor/ceiling) actuator.
