I was wondering I have this code P0340 and it said Camshaft Sensor Malfunction. The vehicle stall on me a lot from bad Oil Pressure Sensor I had and now this Camshaft sensor situation. I change my Oil Pressure Sensor to a BWD brand from O'Reilly Auto and everything worked out on that part. I am curious to know can I use brand BWD for Camshaft Sensor instead of AC Delco brand. I saw if I ordered a AC Delco online from RockAuto it will take up to next week to get here where I am. I need the part right now and I don't want to have to keep it stalling on me anymore.

Thanks BlazingTrails for the reply. Can you tell me all the sensors that need to be run on AC Delco brand because I was thinking of keeping the vehicle for a long time.

I don't need to replace the o2 Sensors yet but I will keep that in mind change it with AC Delco and so far the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid don't need to be change yet but I will remember to replace that with a AC Delco as well. I change my thermostat with a brand called Murray from O'Reilly Auto and so far it work fine for one year now. Yes my fan clutch on my 2003 GMC Envoy does have the electric wiring connect to it. Why the fan clutch have to be a AC Delco and can not be any other type of brand? I saw on Rock Auto website they have it listed for $222 and it is $100 more than the other brands.

I have heard of several people that used the cheaper versions and although they usually worked (for a short time) they still were throwing codes right out of the box. I have heard of several occurrences that they lasted a year or less because of the bearings going bad or throwing codes and not able to pass state inspections.

Personally I went to electric fans, but that is not an easy swap.

Okay I got it and it just crazy how over the years GM try to improve things but failed on a lot of stuff. I just replace the CamShaft Postion Sensor today and now time will only tell how well BWD are made.

I have had a lot of luck with BWD, they are known to be better than OEM. In fact my camshaft position sensor is a BWD and it has been on there for close to 2 years now. no problems. The oil pressure sensor on the EXT is a BWD and it has been good for well over 6 months now. (it used to be on my truck prior to installing the oil pressure gauge)

I am also reading around on GMT Nation my other problem I had is this code P0440. I am wondering what can that be? I replace my gas cap and the entire fuel filler neck because old one was rusted. Usually I know the other parts like Vent Valve, Charcoal Canister, Purge Valve and Fuel tank Pressure Sensor usually have its own trouble code right.

02 and 03 EXT has issues with broken inlets at the tank. Could also be the vent valves on top of the tank.

@BlazingTrails , I have to disagree with you regarding the electro-viscous fan clutch having to be ACDelco. Most here use Hayden and have been satisfied with them. ACDelco are overpriced. Best thing to do is get the PCM tuned to eliminate the fan codes and get the regular viscous fan clutch from an 08 TB.

AC Delco and Hayden are the same. Both OEM. If I'm not mistaken Hayden makes them for AC.

Mooseman yeah I saw that on my gas tank there like one plastic piece weld to the main part of the gas tank. I saw a crack in the center of that part and I did JB Weld all the way around it but only the center is not sealing well because gas still is coming out of it. What should I clean the gas with on the tank so I can use a little more JB Weld on there?

I'd replace the tank as it will never seal right. You could try finding a good used one.

So far Mooseman the JB Weld is working out but I might try to clean that little missing spot and put a little more on it. I saw on a GM Part website that a whole gas tank cost $600 but a used one might go for half price. I don't have either those kind of money. Do you know website where I can buy a new gas tank at?

Is it a 5 or 7 passenger? 5 is short, 7 is long.

Mooseman mine is a 5 passenger SUV. I know the 7 passenger version has the third row seat in the back and mine does not have that third row seat at all.
