Ac problems? Im Puzzled

Ok heres what is goin on, the compressor wont kick on, i jumped it with a wire, it starts up, with the gague (gereric one that comes with recharge can) on the low preassure line, with compressor off the preassure is in the normal, compressor on(with a jumper wire) it drops to low preassure on the gague, ive never used one of these dam things before should i add the refrigerant or no, i am not sure!?

Guessing wrong can cost you over $1000, so I'm always inclined to recommend going to a professional for AC issues. Or somebody who's invested in good gauges, tools, and training.

Thanks roadie i am going to do just that cuz the ac system is NOT MY CUP OF TEA!
