94 K1500 lubricant replacement.

I just bought a 94 K1500 4wd and want to replace all the fluids.
For the transfercase and transmission the manual says use DexIII.
Can you use Dex6 in place of DexIII? I know Dex6 is better than DexIII but I know the trannys and xfercases can be sensitive to using the right fluids.

What he said... DexIII was the fluid when the manuals were printed. DexVI is their latest replacements. Soon enough, they'll release DexVII.
