FYI I purchased an ac Delco phaser from rockauto a week ago after getting a Dorman (crap, do not buy) and the ac Delco is perfect. Zero, absolutely zero play when locked. Highly recommend.

Are gm sleeves available for the atlas 3.7L by chance? Much appreciated.

Welcome to GMT Nation...

Great Information... and more confirmation for us all to use the GM and ACDelco Parts as often as possible, The Dimensions of the OD & ID for the Cylinder Sleeves are --IDENTICAL-- for All Three Flavors of the GM Atlas 4, 5 and 6 Cylinder "Lost Foam" Cast Aluminum Engine Blocks.

The differences with Engine Liter Displacement have to do with the Number of Cylinders... per Engine Block. So this is a Very Rare circumstance where "One Size Fits ALL" where the Pistons, Rings (Careful HERE... There ARE Two Different Versions for the Pistons and Rings depending on the Year of Engine Manufacture) and the Cylinders regarding their SPECS.

Visit "Calvin" aka NIVLAC57 over on Youtube for a Complete GM Atlas Engine Block History and for more information on the GM Atlas Vortec 4200 Motors (and other variants). Drop in on the The GMT Nation FAQ:

For More Images and OEM Part Numbers if you are Re-Building your GM Atlas Vortec Engine... I have a whole raft of Image Albums at my "Flickr-Bucket" Account ...HERE>

I am not sure you understand, my truck has the 3.7L, the sleeve mentioned here for the 4.2 is essentially a 3.5L with an extra cylinder. So the liner won't work. Contact GM gave my VIN and she found a different sleeve part#89060384.

I have more info to share on these atlas motors when I get a chance for now I read the thread you mentioned and I already see incorrect head bolts. I purchased a set from rockauto as well as a local gmc dealer and they are I think Chinese knockoffs. Rockauto right now has the correct head bolts in stock, GM# 11519306 they are Orange tipped and a few bucks per bolt more. The others are garbage even though they say gm genuine I assure you they are no good.

Much Obliged for the explanation. I now stand corrected ... and I'm very sorry that your GM replacement Cylinder has cost you so dearly... I wish it were otherwise. Working on re-building ANY Modern GM Motor...is a Long, Expensive, and an Intensive Drive down a Road... with No Turns.
