Old battery 5 years old finally gave up the ghost. What should have been a ln easy swap turned into a 3-4 hour ordeal.

The positive battery cable was replaced around 2.5 years ago. Brand new O.E.M. AC Delco. The negative cable was just cleaned

In that short time the positive cable looked like what you see in the photo. The shop that replaced it didn't use any anti corrosion grease.

Wire wheeled and emery cloth on all the connections. Went back with battery post anti corrosion grease. Hope to avoid this going forward.

Another "Recipe for Success"

(1) One Large Box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda.
(2) One Mason Jar half filled with HOT Water - One w/ CLEAN H2O.
(3) Mix in enough A&H Baking Soda to make a semi-paste.
(4) Submerge the Battery Lead Connectors completely.
(5) Smear the A&H Paste all over the Fasteners and Tray Contacts.
(6) When the Bubbling and dissolution of the H2SO4 Stop... Rinse w/ H2O.
(7) Keep the A&H Paste AWAY from the Battery Posts and sealed top areas.

The factory crimp on the cable end in pic #4 does not pass muster. I saw one like that recently and did a cut off of the eyelet and cleaned far back in the insulation and then crimped back with a new eyelet. Good to go.
