I have a 08 Trailblazer 2FL with approximately 140,000 miles for sale. It was a gift to my daughter who lives in Indianapolis. I've owned 4 of the 2008 Trailblazers which I bought at various times from the government. (GSA Auctions). My daughter called me from the road and asked if the noise from the engine was normal! She had been driving it like this for several days as she had to get to work. It was making a clanging sound. I asked her if she had ever changed the oil. (Gotta love daughters!) Told her to park it and I'd figure out if it was salvageable.
I sent her my code reader and the code indicated a VVT solenoid problem. I drove down from Fort Wayne to her apartment complex with a new VVT solenoid, tools, oil, plugs and a couple of ignition coils. The oil was darn near empty. I drained what little was in it and put in new oil and filter. Oil was as black as oil can get. Started the truck and it was still clanging but it ran, I then replaced the VVT solenoid. It was clogged with tiny golden metal particles. Started the truck again and it was still clanging.
The following week I got my local auction house to pick it up and tow it home. The young man who drove down said it stated right up, he drove it up on his flatbed trailer. When he got to my house, he drove it down his flat bed and parked it in the shade under a walnut tree on my driveway. My mechanic buddy who I sold 1 of the 2008's to came by and did some basic troubleshooting. He said it wasn't worth the parts and labor to repair. So, I decided it would be our parts car as he had a 2008 and I had 2 remaining 08's.
I gave my mechanic the radio, 2 nearly new Continental ContiTrac tires and the luggage rack. I took the alternator, low pressure AC switch, and blower motor resistor to replace parts I needed. It's sat for over 2 years and last fall I decided to remove the Kicker speakers and the ridiculous sub-woofer in the back When I opened the hood to remove the fuse link, I was rudely screeched at by a squirrel. The engine compartment had become a winter home for a squirrel family with several walnuts. The interior was also loaded with walnuts too! The windshield has a crack from the falling walnuts. The battery died and it was under warranty, so I took it back to Sam's for an exchange. This truck has many usable parts, but it's got to go! Asking price: $375.00
