Hey guys. I've been borrowing my Mom's Trailblazer and it's progressively gotten worse, and now just won't start. She got her battery changed at Walmart about a month ago and it's been doing all kinds of crazy stuff since then. The headlights dim when windows are adjusted up or down, the interior lights sometimes fade in and out, etc. I was thinking they probably did a shotty job and something was loose as far as wiring but I re-tightened everything and still no luck. Yesterday, it was able to crank with a jump start, drive, then wouldn't crank back up this afternoon. The radio, lights and all of that still work. Suggestions? I'm kinda at a loss here!

Sounds like bad connections are bad battery. Have it tested for free at auto zone or advance auto.

That's what I'm thinking. When I can get it cranked to get up there I will let y'all know what they say. Thanks!

OK. But if it tests bad you should get a quality battery from the parts store and get a refund from Walmart. Or just go back to Walmart and have them change it out for free. I'm sure they have a warranty.

Yeah, Walmart put a sticker on it that says if the car doesn't start to return it to them, the battery says its a 3 year. Now it is constantly clicking, wouldn't this indicate a starter problem? It was slow to start the other day when we got the oil changed.

Slow to start is usually the battery. Clicking is almost always the battery. If you owned a voltmeter you could tell for sure. Do you? (The one in the dash doesn't count.)

Don't have a voltmeter, think it'll be my next investment though! Thanks. Like I said I'm hoping it was just a shotty battery or something, as that would be under warranty. I've disconnected and reconnected everything, checked fuses and alla that good stuff to no avail.

Another clue that the ignition switch, starter relay and starter are all OK is that it started with a jump.

At least you jumped it properly and didn't blow the megafuse, which is a common noob mistake. We get 2-3 new members a month who do that due to GM's dumb front fuse box design.
