Trailblazer transmission issue
What can cause transmission to act like it's skipping but it's really not a bad trans? I know some of these models have bad wiring. I recently unplugged the TIPM while the truck was running and nothing changed. Is that normal. I also seen where the ECM was replaced before. When I bought the truck it ran fine other than some noise in the 4wd when engaging it. After a few days of driving it it just started acting like the trans was messing up. I pulled up somewhere and parked backed up and everything was normal. I made a wing turn pulled in a driveway to turn around and it acted like it didn't want to back up. I put it back in park and back in reverse and it backed up down the road it started acting like it was slipping. When the truck is cold it'll go in great and move but not far. Any ideas? I have the ECM that goes on the side of the motor which is a 4.2L. I also have the TIPM and the computer that goes under the driver's side back seat with the little strip on it. Will these help the problem or do I need a trans. Me and my stepson took a trans or of a 05 Tahoe a couple of years back cause we thought the trans was bad and the new one did the same thing. It turned out to be a computer on it. Is it possible for this to be the same thing? In need of ideas or facts.

What are you calling a "TIPM"? This is not something we've seen or heard of on this platform.

The "computer" behind the rear seat is the Body Control Module (BCM) and not likely related to your issues.

The transmission computer is integrated into the ECM (the one mounted on the engine intake). It's unheard of that just the transmission portion of it would fail. Is the CEL on? Have you scanned for any codes? Even if the CEL is not on, there could still be some codes.

How many miles on the truck? Fluid level and condition? Have you tried to drop the pan and replace the fluid and filter? We've seen a couple where the filter was so plugged that it prevented the trans from working correctly. Worth a shot.

If all else fails, I would take it to a tranny shop to get it inspected and evaluated. At that age and probably high mileage, it could need a rebuild.

I think he is meaning the TCCM?

TIPM is the "Totally Integrated Powertrain Module" and is a Jeep/Chrysler unit. I have dealt with those in my driveway. I also dealt with the TCCM in my driveway on my girl's 2002 TB. If in the same place, the OP may be unplugging inside the d/s dash end area.

Plus he does need to supply some basics info, as @Mooseman is asking.

By the way, welcome to the forum @bigcountry.
