2002 TB Couple Questions

Hey all, just a few questions since this is my first "smart" vehicle. All my other ones had simple controls.

Is the AC supposed to turn on when you drop the temp sticks all down to cold without turning the AC button on?

Is it normal for these trucks to leave a good amount of water underneath? No leaks from obvious sources, and looks to be regular water (did the sniff and feel test). I'm thinking AC condensation.

I keep the fan to the regular vents at speed 1, rarely use defrost. Mileage still calculating (just bought this a week ago) but seems to be 18-20 from estimations based on looking at the fuel level and miles travelled. Won't have an exact number for another week or 3. Getting pretty decent mileage off the tank and I don't go too far. 25 miles a day.

Thanks

Edit: leak appears to come from the passenger firewall. Nothing is wet, so I'm thinking there's a condensation opening there like in my other cars.

The A/C compressor will automatically run if you are using either position with the defrost, If you have the A/C button selected, or if you have turned on the re-circle button. With one exception being if the ambient temps outside are below a certain temperature which i am unsure of but probably around 39-40 degrees. there is a sensor in the grill for this function.

Yes This will be the condensation from the A/C Evaporator under the dash, the outlet is under the hood on the firewall, passenger side of the vehicle. It is usually a very considerable amount of water and is also a great sign that your A/C is working properly.

I usually get around 310-345 miles per tank, which is around the 15.8-17.2 mark for mixed driving. You will most likely see a considerable amount more on a highway trip. some members report up to 22 MPG hwy. Results are directly affected by your driving habits and terrain.

Thanks

That is correct

Sweet thanks. I've just been paranoid because I had to replace the radiator out of pocket like 5 days after buying it. Everything else is super clean though.

I'm sure you will not regret buying the trailblazer, just make sure you stay on top of the maintenance as it is always very important on any vehicle!

Have you thought about uploading photos of your truck to your profile? :lightbulb:

I think I have an owner's manual. I've been reading it slowly lol.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'll post photos over the next couple days.

Another quick question, I know onstar went digital and my truck has analog, so is there any way to update mine to use it? I know it's "big brother" and paying the man, but looking at the service, I think it's pretty useful.

Thanks again

I believe you can upgrade it but the cost is $$$$, not worth it. Just unplug what's in there now and be on your way.

I had my 03 updated to the digital onstar. way back when it was around $150 to have the dealer do the upgrade.

if you are interested, do not let those who are not so inclined talk you out of it.

if you don't want to get smart with obd readers and manuals, one thing I did use is remote diagnostics.

they can read and help you understand why the check engine light comes on while you tool down the freeway. they can even enable the service on the fly if you have a credit card. (once you are upgraded, and assuming you do not then have current subscription)

the emergency response could be a good thing as well.

if you go to www.onstar.com, if you sign up for a one year service plan for $199, looks like they will send parts and such to a local dealer who will install for another $15.

your choice as to value or lack of....

Oh that sounds good. Can't do it now but maybe tax return. Yeah I saw the list of benefits onstar has, and was intrigued.
