Posting for a friend. He's having trouble with his Tahoe not starting when it gets hot. It simply won't turn over. No selenoid click, no starter even hinting at engaging. When it's cold no problems it turns over strong and starts right up. After he's driven it for a while and it's at operating temps, it will occasionally just not start. We checked the alternator, it charging fine. Battery is fresh and holding a good charge. All posts are clean and ground are good.

Tahoe has 185K miles on it. I noticed these starters sit right next to and are very close to the exaust manifold and down pipe. Does heat break these starters down over time? Is this a common problem? Thanks for any input. c good

Sounds like heat soak on the starter. I would suggest replacing that as a place to start.
