Three weeks ago, I was on a trip (about 120 miles away) and discovered my transmission was leaking ATF. Stopped by an O'Reillys store and bought a gallon of fluid. It was down a couple of quarts, then I filled it up and drove about twenty miles and checked it again, and it was down again. So I stopped by another O'Reillys store and picked up several more gallons of ATF and started home, as I had about 120 miles to go. I stopped about every 30 miles and check the ATF, then filled it again. Got home and jacked it up and looked under it and didn't see any gaping hole or obvious looking places that it was leaking. So I took it to a local transmission shop. They got it up in the air and called me to come down and look at it. The transfer case was loose and that is where it was leaking ATF. The top bolt on the transfer case was really tight, and the other bolts were not even finger tight. I had the transmission rebuilt about 8 years ago and had no problems with it, three years ago a trans service was done, and still no problems. So $600 later it is back in service with no other problems.
