'04 TB trans in a '02 TB

Hi,
Can my good L60e from our '04 TB be used in a '02 model year TB?

Pretty sure it'd be no problem as long as they're both I6...or V8... I6 bellhousing is unique...

The reason for the question is that Rockauto has 2 suppliers of rebuild trans and one of them refer to different part #'s between the two years. While, the other supplier list the same #.

I'm TB shopping, the 4.2 in the wife's '04 has a rod knock, after junkyard shopping for decided that as the trans is good, I'll have a trans ready when whatever I buy needs one. Wonder if my '04 trans would work in an '05 or '06?

It'll work, the bell housings are all the same. I have a rebuilt (twice.......) "2005" TB trans in my '04.

the bell housings are interchangeable from v8 to i6 on the newer 4l60e. you need one from a half ton gm pickup or trailblazer.
