OK so I have an 02 it is an 02. I have had mechanics tell me blue in the face it's an 03 until I show the Vin matches on all parts and come up 02 well I have looked everywhere for the front blower control module found part # 15-81773 but it doesn't work/fit or designed for my truck the 02. The system I have is fan and temperature/ climate control system I believe... what part would fit, no site or parts place has offered another part option for what would work for my vehicle.

Is it automatic digital or the manual slider climate control?

That part number you were given is for an 03+ automatic digital climate control (two knobs with digital temp readout). I'm actually not finding any parts for automatic digital for 02, just the manual dual sliders without temperature readout. Huh. The 02 and 03 with manual controls use the same part 15-81772 weird that the automatic would not.

What does your old (bad) part look like? Does it have a part number on it?

Probably your best bet. It may be that the 11-81773 will fit after all once you look at it. Amazon's "will it fit" is notoriously wrong.

That's for the manual controls though, which is what I had in my 02. It has that 5 wire connection but the one he has for automatic uses a 3 wire input. My guess is it is a fairly simple thing, just power, ground, and then a "speed" wire, and it is likely just a big power transistor. But, without taking one apart to see how it is actually wired inside I can't say for sure.

That's was inside.

My mistake, thanks for that. I didn't pay enough attention to the description.

That's was inside.

Of course it is more complicated than a single power transistor.

Anything look burned, or any solder joints look cracked or sketchy? I wonder if it can be repaired since you don't have much other option.

One spot on each side where condensation I believe driped and dried, I started cleaning the one where the tooth pick is showing the "stain", to see and damage underneath I also don't see any cracks nor burnt spots or diodes

So cleaned it up and put it in but to no avail to a banged the glove box closed and the fan kicked on so I check all connections, bench tested the offending item and it was working but I heard a clicking like the fan was hitting something so I took that out and there was nothing in the was so I wonder if the bearing are worn and if I can somehow grease the fan, as I turned the heater off and right back on and the fan didn't work again soon I belive it is the fan that is causing problems...

I've heard a lot of evidence that a worn/old Blower Motor can put more load on the Blower Speed Module (Manual and Auto types) and cause re-occurring Module failure.

Hey, if it is the motor, then worst case you just replace it. (Just replaced the one on my Silverado.) Much better than trying to find or repair a part that you can't get anymore.

So I greased it up worked the grease in and threw it back in and works like a charm now...
Although there isn't a part # listed for the auto HVAC for '02, I'm pretty sure that the one from ACDelco for later years will work. There is some rewiring that has to be done but it does come with instructions.

I have used one from an '05 in my old '02 so they will work.
Great to know! If the motor fails I'm going to replace that and cross my fingers it's not that part but seems simple enough.

I figured there had to be a way to make something else work since that part was a single year oddball one. Good to know.

You don't "grease it up" The sleeve bearings just need light oil. I used a few drops of ATF on the bottom bearing and spun the shaft a bit to work it in. The top needs to have a small hole drilled in the plastic blower wheel right beside the shaft. Then a plastic straw extension on the oil bottle will reach the top bearing. This will give your blower motor a new lease on life
