2005 Rainier Grille (or is it grill)

I have a 2005 Rainier and a bird flew up off the shoulder and right into me at 80 MPH.... I've gotten most of the feathers out of the radiator. I've been watching ebay to find a used replacement grille - no luck. I can't even find a new anywhere. Any suggestions. PS: I want to keep a...

quickstrut install - separate from lower mount?

OK - I got it done yesterday. It took about 2 1/2 hours and I had my seven year old daughter helping. I used the fork borrowed from auto-zone and it wasn't too bad getting it separated. After getting the assembly off of the car it was easy from there. thanks for the help.

quickstrut install - separate from lower mount?

I found the tie rod boot like that when I pulled the tire off......... Not sure how long it has been like that but I reattached it today. I do still have the struts on the car. I'll pull them off and then try to separate. I'll need tie rod separator to remove the lower part of the control...

quickstrut install - separate from lower mount?

I'm trying to put Monroe QuickStruts in my 2005 Rainier. With the quickstrut I was expecting a quick and easy job with no springs to mess with...... WRONG I'm struggling to get the old strut separated from the bottom mount. I've removed the nut/bolt all the way and have used a pry bar to...

    AWD when in Reverse?

How about at very low speed? It worked on the second attempt - but my speed was higher. Still slow since I was backing a trailer through a narrow spot, but faster then attempt one..... Don't know if this is a reverse issue, speed issue, or malfunction?

    AWD when in Reverse?

Today i was backing a trailer across a muddy yard - and up a slight hill. I was moving very slow when the tires broke loose and I couldn't go any more. The front wheels never engaged. I pulled forward and then went back again a little faster. The second time I hardly slipped at all. AWD...

    Trails in a Rainier?

We had a great time in NM! But the couch at the rented condo isn't nearly as comfortable as the couch at home and my wife made me keep it on the pavement. This was the first long trip in the Rainier and it did great, but I was disappointed with my mileage. It only got about 17 on the trip.

    Trails in a Rainier?

Thank you for the suggestions.... I think I'll give it a try next week. I don't know history, but at 90k miles I just had the transfer case, differentials, and transmission flushed. The spare tire was missing when I got it and I just bought one from a junkyard so I know it is good. Tires...

    Trails in a Rainier?

I just bought a 2005 Rainier AWD. Next week we will be going to Red River, NM. Offroading is very popular in the area and there are lots of forrest service trails through the mountains. The trails are mostly unmaintained dirt roads. They are rutted, steep, rocky, and etc..... We go...
