"Check Gages" light, oil pressure at 0

I would too but I don't have one. I do have a fuel pressure tester but not sure if that would work or just foul up the tester. Does anyone happen to know what type of thread the sending unit uses? I'm guessing NPT 1/8 or 1/4 maybe?

"Check Gages" light, oil pressure at 0

Oh yeah, to answer your question about noise, there was no engine noise so that's a bit reassuring.

"Check Gages" light, oil pressure at 0

I did check oil level, you just missed it. Oil filter--your question about that just jogged my memory (it's getting shorter all the time LOL). I did an oil change about 500 miles ago with Valvoline R&P for the first time, and I had read about some people having the filter get clogged up pretty...

"Check Gages" light, oil pressure at 0

I only noticed the light when I pulled in after a short half hour trip. All other gages were normal so temp was right about the 210 location, and this was at idle.

"Check Gages" light, oil pressure at 0

I didn't even know that light existed, never paid close attention to all the lights that come on just before starting and it's never come on in all these 22 years. So I did what the light said, I looked at all my gages and saw the oil pressure was reading 0. So, what is this telling me? Is there...

    Front Defroster Suddenly Ticks

I recently had to repair the recirc actuator (I didn't replace it, I repaired it by taking it apart and installing roll pins, documented elsewhere here). Here in Arizona it's almost a requirement to have it working. Even after reading up on the procedure and having head knowledge, it was still a...

What came in your mail today?

Last few years I've seen a lot of 'hand-offs' from one service to another before my shipments arrive. Most cases the delivery dates are accurate but more and more I anticipate errors in projected dates, I guess because the services don't always coordinate well with each other.

    Hazards killing battery?

I'm glad you did that, I thought it had gotten off far enough to warrant it.

    Hazards killing battery?

So in another discussion about RA not selling to Arizona one of the alternative recommendations was PartsGeek. Their price is almost a third of the closest competitor, is this really trustworthy? It's aftermarket, not genuine GM. https://www.partsgeek.com/ss/?i=1&ssq=12450067

    Hazards killing battery?

Looks like a simple task to replace the combo switch, no steering wheel removal necessary. I'm just going to order a replacement unit and be done with it. It's never been replaced since new so it's not hurting my feelings any.

    Hazards killing battery?

Next chance I get I'll do some further investigation on the switch as it seems plausible with your latest input that it still could be suspect. I looked up the switch and found that it's integrated with the entire turn signal combo switch so it's not just a simple 'switch the switch'. Not sure...

    Hazards killing battery?

Well, with respect to the ignition switch, the verdict is in--I hope. The photo below shows the switch I just removed on the left, the Dorman version, and on the right is the one I had removed a couple years ago, the GM version. The Dorman shows the gear in position as removed, and the GM shows...

    Hazards killing battery?

I plan to do the struts tomorrow and then look at the ignition switch. After looking at a lot of posts here and on TV forum it seems possible that I may not have gotten the gear alignment just right. I plan to go ahead and put the former GM switch back in and see how that goes.

    Hazards killing battery?

Sorry, I can see where I wasn't very clear about what I was referring to. The button on top of the steering column, in front of the IPC. See attached from the owner's manual page 3-6. It says that to activate the flashers push the button down. Then, although it doesn't say so explicitly, the...
