while under the car cleaning all the splashed axle fluid I noticed this jammed near the engine...
It looks like maybe the back clip to an electrical connection? or clamps to a brake line?

I didnt find anything searching for number 230742

That is the clip that is used for the fuel hoses where it connects to the fuel rail. Look up top your engine on the drivers side toward the front, that is where the fuel connector goes and there should be 2 hoses with a connector like that.

Yeah, I'd want to put that back on ASAP.

One possible reason it is there is it had been disconnected sometime during its life and they lost the clip, so they put a replacement on and that original has just been floating around down there.

That clip is a secondary safety for the line. To release the line you remove the clip THEN you need a tool to depress a ring inside the fitting to get the fitting to release.

ah ok!
I'm still wondering why it came off. It isnt a spot you can accidentally hit.
and it wasnt jammed there it was back farther above the axle.
anyhow i'll never know.
thanks for all the help.

I was about to say the same thing. It wasn't going anywhere lol
yeah before clipping it, I of course tried to pull it apart but not with any great effort, it didnt budge. only pushing together did it move.
