Time until thread update email sent out

When replying to a thread how long does the system wait until an email is sent out to all subscribers of that thread?

Does it wait until a few minutes have passed? Like when you go back and edit the message and time stamp is added? I have until that amount of time before the final edited version is sent out? After the time stamp is added then it's too late to keep the original from being sent to emails?

I wouldn't count on any time at all. The time do reflect and ponder deeply is before hitting send, if it's an issue that you may want to edit later.
