FEEDBACK Temu Ads

Hi All

I'm going to fade out for a while. I just can't handle the volume and intensity of the TEMU ads that bombard me when I stop by. They make it unpleasant to be here.

I know I can subscribe and make them go away but the yearly subscription price for this site is several times higher than other sites I am on (woodworking, electronics, cigars etc), $50 a year to be ad free is about my limit.

Here's something for the administrators to think about. It's not just the bombardment of the ads, it's that TEMU is rumored to be using slave labour in northern China to produce some of the goods they are trying to sell to us.

See for yourself, google "temu slave labour china"

Since it seems that TEMU is now the major sponsor of GMT Nation I don't want to be here much anymore. I don't want to support TEMU in any way so my conscious asks me to stay away. I have to wonder if the site owners know about TEMUS problems or are they just so in love with money they don't care.

I'll check back in a few months, if the advertising has changed I'll be happy to rejoin, I can live with Amazon ads, at least they don't conjure pictures of children making sneakers in a sweatshop.

Nothing in life is free. Especially the internet. Server space, bandwidth and so on cost money. To keep costs low or free, ads are used. Are the ads what everyone wants? No. Do the owners, moderators and admins of this site or any site think they will retire? Probably not. I pay what I can, when i can, like i am sure others do. If the ads are there, so be it. I am sure Temu is not the only advertiser on the internet that has come under fire for what ever reason. I am sure there are others that are worse. But I am thankful for this site and others i use. Sorry to see you go. Take care. Hope to see you back.

I think you can click the X next to an and say you don't want to see those anymore but will be replaced with other ads.

However I do agree that Temu is a peddler of CCC and we can do without them. Nothing but complaints about their junk.

I believe the ads are generated by Google so the site is not sponsored by Temu. It's generally based on the search history of the user.

Makes sense. If you were searching Temu in Google, it would come up in the ads, which is run by Google Adsense

The advertisements you see here are completely dynamic and based on YOUR browsing habits. We are not sponsored by anyone, and we don’t choose which ads you see, or how often. Do some research on cookies, they exist everywhere on the internet.

Oh, and if you think TEMU should be boycotted for questionable labor and business practices… I hope you’re not using Amazon or shopping at Walmart.
