OK, so I joined a few weeks ago looking for answers about what to look for in a GMT360 SUV.

Well, yesterday I got the keys to a new-to-me 2005 Buick Rainier CXL V8. Here are a few pics, and I'm going to add more later.

Nice looking rainier....but I gotta say I am not a fan of the running boards. AWD?? Any future suspension plans for her??

Hey, don't hate. Those are the same boards I have on my 05 TB. The chrome isn't just some plastic insert, took a cinder block and bent the bracket, but the board itself is fine.

That is a beautiful Rainier! If I had to get another GMT 360 I'd go with a Rainier or Bravada. Look forward to seeing pics of your future mods!

*cough* Roof rack delete! *cough*

Yeah, that roof rack, man. If it was just straight bars, whatever, but no they have to be arched, and to me it looks like a reaaaaalllly bad combover. Which in turn reminds me of this:

Thanks, everyone. I feel like a true member of the community now, lol. Someone asked if it was AWD, and it's not. I thought it was when I first test-drove it, but I was confusing it with something else I'd seen.

Regarding mods, here's what may go down...

  • Replacement of the head unit. GM's nav system in these trucks, though probably good for its time, is completely outdated. (absolutely gonna happen)
  • AFM delete. (maybe)
  • Air suspension delete. (if necessary)

Also, I may or may not remove the roof racks. They don't bother me. And the running boards actually make it easier for my 2-year-old to climb in, so... THEY STAY! :coffee:

Nice truck!
In defense of the roof racks...you need some place to mount the ski and kayak racks!
And the running boards....you need some way to get to the ski and kayak racks!
That being said, I never understood why the arc them or why they're slanted.

Arch and slant are due to aerodynamics.

I use roof racks far to often. I would not have bought our minivan without one even. Really an asset to the vehicle IMO.

Good choice on the rainier. I live in bethlhhem and am in Athens every so often for church so if you see a tan rainier driving around it is probably me:thumbsup:

I have a good bit of mods on mine so if you ever want to meet up we could probably arrange something
