The banner near the top says that I have new, private messages, and I need this free download to read them. I am reluctant to download anything that I don't know what it is. Please tell me a little bit about this download. Wedge1

You shouldn't have to download anything to read messages on this site. Sounds like you have a bug. DON"T DOWNLOAD IT. Scan your computer for viruses and adware.

What you are seeing is a targeted Google Ad banner. Unfortunately, we don't have control over what is displayed there, but the banner you are referring to is indeed an advertisement, and what Ghoster said is true... you do NOT have to download anything to view or access features on our site.
Something you browsed to on the internet has triggered that ad to display, and while it's deceptive to some users, you don't have to click it.
