Hey guys, my name is Tyler I picked up my trailblazer about a year ago and have loved it...well most of the time. It's a 06 lt 4.2 4x4 model. I'm currently fighting a p0601 code :sadcry:( but that will be fixed soon. As it stands the truck is mostly stock with a jba cat back, it had a jet chip but it caused a few problems so I had to remove it. Don't plan on to many mods to it it'll just be my daily while I sell off my rx7 for another project, but the tb is becoming a very "fun" road trip truck. Looking forward to learning a bit from every one! don't mind the box it's getting replaced.

Welcome!

I couldn't help but notice you mentioned the Jet Chip. While it may be a bit more solid than the "G-Force 'Chip'" (which is literally just $70 resistor for your IAT, and pure snake oil) it isn't recommended by us either way. The best bang-for-the-buck found around here for engine performance on the I6 engine is to get a PCM tune from PCMofNC. Do a search for it, there's tons and tons of information on it around here, plenty of positive testimonials (in fact, I don't think I've seen a negative one) and for a base price of $159 (more for other options) you can have them custom-craft the PCM operating parameters. They have some choices, such as performance or economy, and they're willing to work with you on other parameters (they can also disable references for at least some/most trouble codes. Have a p0410 SAIS code? Ditch the system, install a cover plate, and have them remove the code and the PCM will never throw it which is nice). Just something to consider if you're still looking to scratch a mod itch now and again. Chevy Trailblazer 4.2L I6 Mail Order Tune

And the link that's mandatory for me to post: http://gmtnation.com/f5/welcome-gmtnation-com-heres-story-226/ This gives some backstory on how this site got started up if you're interested.

Explore. Read threads, even on problems you aren't having. There's some things which seem to consistently crop up in the platform and it's nice to know what they are and their symptoms BEFORE it happens to you, then you already know the problem and know where to find the solution!

And if you're looking to learn more, consider grabbing our technical manuals pack generously hosted by Mooseman. You can find them here: http://gmtnation.com/f23/need-service-manuals-get-them-here-371/ there's a pack specific to the 2006 model year that'd be most helpful. Also grab the Generic and GM trouble code books, helps a lot for diagnosis.

And here's some other stuff from our sister site, offroadtb: Offroadtb.com Tech Docs the listing at this link includes 4x4 problem diagnosis, theory of operation on the front axle disconnect and transfer case, and another manual (this one on the operation of the transmission).

If you're curious as to the codes on the sticker inside your glove box: http://gmtnation.com/f23/rpo-code-compendium-9875/

A nice-sized helping of TSBs related to our platform: http://gmtnation.com/f23/you-want-technical-discussion-how-about-technical-service-bulletins-9836/

I haven't had time lately but I'll be expanding the TSB database and the RPO compendium when I get a moment. Happy learning!

Welcome to the Nation!

Forget the chip. Best mod for the 4.2L I6 is a PCMofNC tune :twocents:. Well worth the $160. They should be having another sale soon, usually $20 bucks off of a tune. Make sure you fill out your vehicle profile for future reference.
