Differential fill plug

The fill plug for the rear differential is stripped in the differential. I have tried pb blaster using heat and a few other ways to get it out and it won't budge. So I am thinking about adding a universal fill plug to the back cover when I have it off. Has anyone tried this? Is it a good idea or bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's an 02 trailblazer.

When you get the dif cover off, you may be able to get the OE plug out. You could go with one of those universal ones, its what Dodge has been using for years.

I had the same issue, and did the new plug in the cover trick. Too much risk of shavings getting in the guts (I have the G80 locker) by drilling out the old plug.
