I don't know witch is better. I just know I can do anything to a carbed motor my self with just a good ear. If I change anything on a new one I have to get a tune. Good thing im to old to go out racing all the time lol. That's some really bad MPG's. Something isn't right. I get 13 MPG's in the ss stop and go.

It'll take some work.

Your instrument cluster will be DOA. No readouts. These are fed from the PCM, which will have no place in a carbureted setup. Alternatively, you can have it but ditch the MIL (which also would deny you MILs from the transmission, if you keep the transmission) or pay (again) to have all those tuned out. Well, if you kept the transmission you'll have to keep the PCM anyway or it won't shift, I suppose.
Thanks for that feedback...

As I did with the S-10, I would build an instrument cluster out of Dakota Digital Gauges...
They are very accurate and don't have stepper motors to worry about ...

The transmission would be no other than a 700R4...
no electronics, except for the VSS/Speedo and optional TC lock-up.

A/C, Lights, Windows, Etc. could simply be wired via relays if the modules didn't adapt to the swap.

Been putting a lot of thought into this conversion...
Negotiating on this one tomorrow...

You can run a carb on a LS based motor
I know.... those are cool...
There is a guy building a LSx powered Fox Body Mustang that's gonna carb it.

but the required ignition is much more complicated and expensive than this...
